A solar inverter, or converter or PV inverter, converts the variable direct current (DC) output of a photovoltaic (PV) solar panel into a utility frequency alternating current (AC) that can be fed into a commercial electrical grid or used by a local, off-grid electrical network. There are two types inverters, grid tied (or on grid) and off grid inverter. Grid tied inverter converts the solar panel DC power to 240V AC power and deliver to the grid.

Off grid inverter converts the battery DC power to 120v / 240v AC power.
